Frequently Asked Questions:

Benefits of being published

Why should I pay to appear in a book?

The concept of our publications is different from most.

The books are either sold at cost or sent out free to selected recipients, so nobody makes money from sales.

We try to achieve the largest possible distribution to a professional audience of galleries, museums, art consultants, interior designers, agencies, collectors, etc. The purpose of the book is to promote the artists in it. This is the reason there is a participation fee. But only artists who meet the standards of our selection committee are approved.

Why should I appear in this book? What are the benefits?

Being included in a juried art book, where the artists are of high caliber, offers numerous benefits:

  1. It is a prestigious and professional way to present your work to galleries, collectors, selection committees, juries and potential buyers.
  2. Being included in such a publication not only presents your work, but places you among other highly regarded artists.
  3. It increases the commercial value of your work.
  4. It provides gallery owners with an effective tool to more easily sell your work and at a better price.

If you really like my art, you must accept me for free!

No artists are accepted for free. No matter how good or famous they are! The book is published for the the benefit of the artists. It offers them a valuable tool to promote themselves.

However we welcome sponsored artists. Many of the participants in our books are sponsored by public organizations, universities, banks, private companies, etc.

We provide artists who have been approved for inclusion and are interested in finding a sponsor with helpful information for potential sponsors about the benefits for sponsors.

How is the book going to help me? Am I going to sell works?

The book is not a selling tool. It is a tool to promote the artist. It opens doors to galleries, it is a great selling tool for galleries and it raises the value of your work. It will help you to sell art to your clients and at higher prices. But you are not going to sell art directly from the book. This is not the purpose of the book.  People who see you in it are forwarded to your online portfolio and you can sell art this way, but you might never find out that these buyers came from the book. The book is meant to promote the artist. It is a very important addition to your resume. If you use it correctly, you will have great results and it can boost your career.

Procedure

  • A committee selects not only the artists but the works that will be in the book.
  • The criteria for selection are: interest, originality, beauty and very importantly, technical proficiency and mastery of the medium.
  • "International Contemporary Masters" includes all media; painting, mixed media, digital art, illustrations, sculpture, installations, photography, pottery, performance art. "International Masters of Photography" includes all genres of photography.
  • The books include artists and photographers from all over the world, and present a cross-section of contemporary art and photography internationally.

When is the deadline for an artist to apply?

There is no general deadline for applications because we close each volume when we complete the number of artists we can accept. We do set deadlines for monthly installments. We offer payment plans. For each plan there is a deadline. Ask the assistant curator who contacted you, to give you more information about it.

Do I pay to submit art for review?

It is free to submit art for approval. If you are approved and the jury has selected the art for the book, then we will send you the application and you will be asked to pay. You will have the choice to pay in installments.

How do I submit my work?

If you have been invited by an assistant curator, answer back to his/her message attaching images of your works or ask her/him to forward your website link to the jury for approval. If you found us by yourself send us your website link or send at least 5 images by email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it If you are approved you will be notified in within 3 working days.

Where can I find the application on line?

There is no application online because it is not available to everyone.  It is sent only to artists who have been approved and when we have selected the art.

Shall I I see my page before the book is printed?

When the designer designs the pages, she sends them to the artists for approval. At this stage you can make changes, update your information and check for any mistakes in your name and website.

What about the exhibition in Las Vegas at the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Arts?

We organize this event because we know that an exhibition at a museum is a very important addition to an artist's CV. A few months after the book is published, we arrange the show for the artists in the volume.

How much does it cost to participate in this exhibition?

SNMFA is a non-profit organization. The artists have to make a donation as a contribution to the show. This is $175 for 1 artwork, $350 for 2 works and $400 for 3. No more than 3 works can be exhibited by each artist. The artist has to pay shipment cost to and from the museum.

Please note! We have nothing to do with the financial arrangements between the artists and the museum and any other arrangements. We only curate this show and select the works. We bear no responsibility for damage or loss of works during shipment or anything else.

Everything must be arranged between the artist and the museum.

We contribute for this show as well with books that we offer free to the museum. They sell them and keep all the proceeds.

Where is the muesum?

The SNMFA is in the old downtown of Las Vegas. It is located inside the Neonopolis shopping center on the second floor. The building is donated by the owner to the museum.

The Director Joe Palermo and the volunteers who work there do an excellent job of setting up the shows, have a great buffet for the opening, organize happenings like violin players, and have a professional photographer on hand to shoot the opening and the guests. Each show has a large opening with many visitors and buyers.

As an artist in the book do I have to participate in this exhibition?

No. Only the artists who want to do so participate in the show.

Do I have to be there at the opening?

No. You are certainly welcome, but you don't have to come. You can just ship your art.

How do you distribute the books?

Our books are distributed to galleries and other art and photography professionals all over the world. When a volume is released, we start sending out firstly the copies to the participants in the book and then we start sending free copies to galleries, agencies, museums, libraries, art collectors, consultants, interior design companies, etc.

Below is an indicative list of galleries where we have sent free books recently. It is by no means a complete list.

Sponsorship

Some information for artists who would like to approach a company to sponsor them, not only for being in our books but for other events they might want to participate in as well.

How to find a sponsor:

Contact any companies you might know. Small companies are much easier to approach when it is for a small amount of money.

They can be small stores, wineries, real estate agents, etc. Generally it is easier to get a sponsorship from companies where you have personal contacts or friends or - much better - where you are a client or customer! Or it could be a company or person you have done work for - or even your employer! Or they could be a supplier of yours.

When you have managed to set up an appointment to discuss the sponsorship, it is helpful to have your portfolio of your work with you, and also either a sample copy of one of our books or access to a computer where you can show them our website and the links to our books on the site. Potential sponsors need to get a clear idea of exactly what they are paying for - and the benefits for them.

Make it clear that you are not just asking for help! It is an equal exchange. You are asking for something from them and you are offering something important to them!
